We are looking forward to having local artist and Hive tenant, Tim Mansen, host and teach a 5-week class on Tone Design beginning Wednesday, November 6th. The class will explore how artists of the Renaissance used tone (light and dark) to portray drama and emotion in their epic paintings, following a class application of these principles by making a series of small paintings based on the art works of some of the masters of design.
Tim is a native of the Tacoma area, and his artwork reflects his love of this beautiful land and its people. Timothy is classically trained (at the Gage Academy, in Seattle) and seeks to reconcile traditional and contemporary modes of expression. He is currently working on a series of landscape and portraits that will soon be on display. Timothy taught drawing and painting at the Tacoma Academy of Fine Art for 7 years. An experienced teacher, he enjoys demonstrating the principals of design to students, and seeing them empowered to create the kind of art they desire.
Wednesdays, November 6 – December 4
At: Alma Mater, the Hive; 6:00 – 8:30pm, $225
